Artists Residency Anchor (ARRA) is a project situated in Kotva Space Bratislava that was nominated for a prize in architecture thanks to the unique work of Alan Prekop. This brutalist space, combined with Japanese essentialism, became a nest for creatives and artists in the heart of Slovakia’s capital in 2025. As one of two initiators of the space, I had the opportunity to kick off the project and give birth to a platform with international outreach.

The space itself offers a shelter as well as an atelier to artists and creators in times that are especially difficult for Slovak culture. Inspired by my recent stay in the brutalist environment of São Paulo, Brazil, I believe that this blank space, a sort of cube with nothing but concrete, invites an internal dialogue between the artists and the space itself.

The project was launched in September 2025 with the first kick-off event, blending a happening hosted by artists across various disciplines such as architecture, design, fashion, and music.
